1. Edinson Cavani- After impressing throughout his first seasons in Italian football with Palermo, Edinson Cavani arrived in a big way last year. The Serie A's top scorer, Cavani helped new club Napoli to a third place finish in Serie A, guaranteeing the Azzuri Champions League football next year. Along with Ezequiel Lavezzi and Marek Hamsik, Cavani has been heavily linked to Manchester City in the past, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Citizens came in with a bid for him sometime over the next few weeks.
2. Gonzalo Higuain- Higuain was rightly considered one of the finest forwards it the game about a year ago, but since then his stock has fallen after a long term injury kept him out for the best part of last season. Nevertheless, all his predatory instincts remain and the Argentinian is a player who would certainly guarantee a similar goal haul to that of fellow countryman Tevez. However, Manchester City would have to work quite hard to pry him away from Real Madrid, the striking position has been one that the Merengues' have been found lacking in in the past, so Jose Mourinho might be reluctant to let Higuain go.
3. Sergio Aguero- A rumored target of nearly every club at the top European level, Sergio Aguero is a talented striker capable of creating as well as scoring. Given Tevez' propensity to drop deep and create, Aguero might be an ideal option to fill in for him, as the on the market Atletico Madrid star has no qualms about letting midfielder run ahead of him. Currently playing at the Copa America, Aguero has made it clear that he is not interested in talking about transfer speculation until the competition's end, with Juventus leading the race to land his signature.
4. Falcao- We are beginning to run out of superlatives to describe this man's season last time out, he was just deadly spearheading a dynamic Porto attack. A threat in the air and on the ground, Falcao possesses all the attributes of a top class striker, as well as the mettle required to succeed in the English game. Though at the moment Chelsea seem to be his favored destination, if their rumored bid for Tevez comes through, than the stage would be set perfectly for the Colombian to join City.
5. Zlatan Ibrahimovic- Probably the least likely to join up, Ibrahimovic nevertheless has the requisite pedigree to be put under due consideration. The big Swede has consistently won league titles throughout his career, and possesses that touch of magic which could serve City well in tough, tight games. Standing at above six feet, Ibrahimovic isn't the type of shy, weak player who would be easily pushed off the ball in the Premier League; he is more than capable of taking care of himself, and would no doubt be a hit at Manchester City.
